The Earthquake in Sumatra made the headlines.
So did Singapore.
Turns out many areas happened to feel the "shake". And Tp was one of them.
For me, I thought I had a headache (since i only had 2hrs of sleep the day before). Guess I wasn't as sensitive to the shake then the time in Philippines.
Still remember the time when I was in Philippines for mission trip. It was around 11pm plus and many of us had headed back to our rooms to rest. So while I was waiting for my turn to wash up, it happened!
And I just froze. The blinds ratted against the window. The tv screen became full of "ants". Hotel guest shouting. Glass breaking. The heavy footsteps of people running. And the tremor "vibrating" under you...
It felt like it was shaking in a circular pattern (think mahjong's kind of swing but more forceful). So it lasted for about 20sec. Once it stopped, we came to our senses, and ran out of the hotel for safety. And my poor roommate had to run out of the bath with wet clothes and a towel!
Surprisingly, four out of the ten of us
slept through this. (They must be too tried!) The missionaries came to check on us and said that an earthquake of around 6-7 in richter scale happened in another district not far from us. And we felt its tremor...
In my right mind, I didn't think it was a earthquake. (Since S'pore doesn't) So that's the reason why I stood still. But I thank God it didn't shake in an up and down movement or we wouldn't be alive now to testify of God's protection over our team.
An interesting but scary experience. So when a building shakes, don't stand there like what I did. Just run.
